Congratulations Chad and Jenny!
July 14, 2008
Dead End Days celebrated another landmark last week - when a sizable portion of past cast and crew gathered in San Diego, California to celebrate the wedding of DED’s own Chad Thompson (Bruce) and Jennie Reichert (awesome PA, and long, long, looong time RocketAce supporter).
Rather than re-write what I’ve posted (better) elsewhere - check out the details (and a snazzy photo gallery) at the main RocketAce site:

Episodes 15 & 16 are go!
July 14, 2008
I have yet to figure out an update schedule that makes sense to make up for the problems with the site recently, so in the meantime here’s a fresh start on day two to get us through the week!
Hope you all enjoy!
Episode 16 - Larson…y.
July 14, 2008
You know, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched through this show, read the scripts, proofed the scriptbooks, did interviews about it… and this is the first time it’s ever occured to me that Larson (the character) might be a pun on the authors part about Larceny.
I’ll have to ask him about that.
So yes, Larson makes his grand appearance in this episode as the director pulls off a wonderful “Batman Table” joke… which is harder to do than it looks. Also this episode really shows off the warm dulcet tones of our 1960s CBC shotgun microphone which started dying completely shortly after we shot this episode. I believe we bought a cake with the frosting caption “Our Mic Sucks”.
And lets not forget Jill’s lone appearance. Was she going to be a bigger character? Did she have hopes, fears, dreams of her own? Why was she in that closet? These are things we will never know about the enigma known as “Jill”.
Episode 15 - A Mysterious Phone Call
July 14, 2008
And our story jumps forward 105 days to when things really start to heat up.
Given that this episode contains a very mysterious, very iconic phone call (that’s been used in pretty much every trailer for DED that we’ve ever cut), it may surprise you to know that my favourite part about this episode has always been, and remains, the two audio ads off the top for “Morgan Strump Funeral Services” and the Johnny Numbskull show.
The former was recorded during a snow-storm when we couldn’t shoot and were just messing around singing catchy jingles. The latter contains a royalty-free sound effect called “man groaning” that I am pretty sure has never been used in any other project. Ever. Listen to it. It’s ridiculous. What could you possibly use that for? We considered trying to fit it into the mix a challenge.
The rest of the episode is pretty good too… I guess.
Hello, hello, is this thing on?
July 7, 2008
Hi everyone, just a short note to say we’ve given up on our somewhat flawed auto-update system (that has never worked properly) and are back to good old fashioned manual updates!
To make up for the break, I’ve thrown the remainder of Day one up NOW! And we’ll start in next week with a proper twice-a-week schedule. Thanks for sticking it out - Day Two is where things really start to pick up, so your patience will be rewarded!
Episode 14 - Day One C’est Fin!
July 7, 2008
And so we reach the end of day one, characters introduced, story primed, and allow our heroes (heroes?) one last moment of respite before we do unspeakably nasty things to them!
Episode 13 - More Information on Zombies Can Be Found On The Internet
July 7, 2008
Come on people. It’s now 2008… even back in 2003 when we launched this episode people understood that “NSFW” also meant “Sometimes Not Safe For Home”.
Episode 12 - Strange Things Are Afoot
July 7, 2008
A lovely little cautionary tale about some of the goings-on which may be affecting our intrepid group. Also characters, intended to be one-off’s, who came back with a vengence? Sign me up!
