Brad Fox

Brad Fox
Producer
Character: The Barrista

Starting his film producing career in Calgary at a very early age (with “Dr. Dork”, his epic grade-school collaboration with a young director named Matt Hoos) Brad was inspired to work in theatre, television, and film production, both at home and in Toronto where he is currently based. Most importantly, Brad makes one hell of a latte.

Matthew Hoos

Matt Hoos
Director
Character: Sam

Matt is an honors graduate of the Vancouver Film School. Determined to get the full benefit of the ridiculously high tuition he paid to be there, Matt did his best to weasel his way into every possible project he could during his time at VFS. It was there that Matt first met Shane and Erin, and he knew immediately that only great (or illegal and dirty) things could come from befriending them. Before attending VFS, Matt studied theatre at the University of Calgary where his friendship with Jay was cemented. As for his partnership with Brad Fox, it was first developed in Kindergarten during a rousing game of Indiana Matt. Twenty years and two successful production companies later, their friendship is still going strong. As an actor, Matt has appeared in several professional and student films, but is particularly proud of his numerous professional theatre productions coast to coast including “The Cripple of Inishmaan” at the Belfry Theatre in Victoria and the Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver, “Dead Serious” at Calgary’s Pleiades theatre, and the Evergreen Theatre Societies’ award-winning “Everything Under the Sun”, just to name a few. Matt was also thrilled to be an ensemble cast member of Calgary’s prestigious Shadow Productions for 4 seasons. As well, in 1999, Matt and Erin made up two thirds of an improv team named “Crazy like Jesus” Who destroyed the competition and were named the 1999 British Columbia Improv Champions. In 1999 Matt and Jason formed Laughing Day Productions who, along with Shane and Erin, mounted 2 cross Canada tours of the plays “On Deaf Ears” and the Centaur Theatre Showcase award-winning play “Menace”, both original works of Jason’s. As a director, Matt directed several student theatre and film projects throughout his academic career, but aside from his deep love for Dead End Days, he is most proud to be the director of Canada’s hottest sketch comedy act “The Imponderables”, who have become the first outside act to ever grace the mainstage of the illustrious Second City of Toronto with a full run production in March, 2004. Matt is extremely proud to be working on Dead End Days, and is forever in debt to the hardest working, most talented, dedicated and gosh darn good lookin’ cast and crew a fledgling director could ever dream of.

His play Menace won Montreal’s Centaur Theatre Showcase Award for Best Play (2001), and his latest work – Wedgie – has been mounted several times throughout Western Canada, and was the first original play to win Presentation House’s “On The House” co-production grant. Currently resident dramaturg at Playwrights Theatre Centre, he is the creator and co-producer of the annual Walking Fish Festival for emerging theatre artists, and his play the space between us was presented as a showcase staged-reading at ATP’s Playrites Festival 2004.

Rob has been providing “constructive criticism” of his brother in one form or another since the early 80’s. It is this desire to “encourage” his brother to be the best that he can be which has spurred Brad on to bigger and better projects, including “Dead End Days”. Rob is happy be to able to bring his extensive lifting, carrying, and holding skills to the production (not to mention his forum moderation abilities). When not participating in gruelling all-weekend shoots, he is completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Toronto, and eagerly awaiting the day when Brad achieves vast commercial success, thus becoming Rob’s meal ticket for life.

Ultimately, Edward is searching for a means to communicate that there is another way, not a better way, but another way. We can experience without shame.
